Job security agreement signed at Tata Steel

Following 24 days of strikes, the management of Tata Steel in the Netherlands has agreed to extend its current employment pact until 1 October 2026. This means that there will be no compulsory redundancies at the IJmuiden plant as part of the planned reorganisation of Tata Steel’s European operations.

As part of the package, the so-called “generation pact” is being extended by two years until December 31, 2024. This allows workers over 60 to cut their working time by 50% while continuing to accrue their full pension rights and being paid between 77% and 90% of their normal wages. The precise percentage depends on their current pay.
