Earnings plateau continues

Average weekly earnings stay mostly flat this month as public sector gains are offset by private sector losses.

Our data shows a slight increase in pay settlements in June, up 0.2% when compared to last month, but this is still unlikely to reflect the true picture. Data has still not come in from the bargaining that has been suspended during the coronavirus crisis, so the figures are over-influenced by subsequent stages of pay deals agreed in previous years.

In June, the median pay increase in collectively agreed settlements from LRD’S Payline database stayed steady at 2.6%.
