Two-year pay deal in Dutch construction

Unions and employers have reached a two-year pay deal for the around 110,000 workers employed in construction and infrastructure. The agreement, which runs from 1 January 2021 until 31 December 2022, provides for a 1.5% increase in pay scales in August this year, and a 3% increase on 1 January 2022. In addition, there will be a one-off payment, worth 1%, paid in December 2021.

Inflation in the Netherlands is 1.9%, so this year’s pay increase barely keeps pace. More positively, it includes a qualification bonus of €2,500 (gross) paid to workers when they complete specific training modules.
