General Domestic Appliances (Peterborough)

The April wage review at this factory (otherwise known as Hotpoint) was for 2.5%, with a profit share consolidation of just under 0.5% from last December taking the overall annual increase to 3%. Examples of the new rates are set out below. Juvenile rates are 75% of the company rate at 16 and 85% at 17 while apprentices start at £125.19 in year one and rise to £248.15 in year 5. The company works an average 37 hour week on annualised hours (with shorter hours in the winter). For a one-year trial period this year the annual summer shutdown was replaced by giving individuals a choice, with 11 days to be taken between June and September.
