Local council London weighting dispute continues

The claim for £4,000 London weighting which was submitted in July 2001 is still outstanding. Public service union Unison has called further selective strike action in pursuit of the claim and say that London's local councils are wasting millions trying to plug the gaps in local services by using expensive temps and agency staff. They argue that councils should spend the money on paying decent wage levels for permanent, well-trained staff.
