Noise directive

A million workers in call centres and the leisure industry stand to benefit from a new European Union directive on noise. The directive is set to include lower exposure limits, the right to a hearing test and consultation with safety reps on risk assessments and control measures. A first draft is expected this year but the directive will not be in force until 2006.
