Companies fail to support homeworkers

More than a third (35%) of companies do not include mobile workers and homeworkers when implementing health and safety policies, according to a survey carried out by management service company Touchpaper.

Unions say that homeworkers are covered by the same health and safety laws as other workers, and should receive the same assessments on electrics, cabling, heating, ventilation, seating and workstation positioning. The Health and Safety Executive claims to agree, but does nothing to enforce its own guidance.
