Ethnicity pay reporting


The government has published a consultation which seeks views on ethnicity pay reporting by employers. 


The consultation document sets out options and asks questions on:


• what ethnicity pay information should be reported by employers to allow for meaningful action;


• who should be expected to report; and


• the next steps.


The objective of the consultation is to enable government and employers to move forward in a consistent and transparent way.


David Isaac, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), said: “Extending mandatory reporting beyond gender will raise transparency about other inequalities in the workplace and give employers the insight they need to identify and remove barriers to ethnic minority staff joining and progressing to the highest level in their organisations.”


In August, the EHRC published a report calling for the publication of ethnic and disability pay gaps.
