FBU anniversary
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has begun a year of events marking the 100th anniversary of its foundation in 1918.
They include the screening of a new documentary, a travelling exhibition and a memorial event at London’s Southwark Cathedral “to celebrate the contribution of firefighters to the safety of our communities and to honour firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty”.
The union points out that around 85% of all firefighters are FBU members.
