Women’s Day

Around six million workers took part in two-hour strikes, and hundreds of thousands marched through the streets in 120 towns and cities across Spain on 8 March, International Women’s Day.

They were striking and demonstrating against the gender pay gap, discrimination and sexual harassment and assault, in what was Spain’s largest ever protest against inequality. The strike had been called by the two main union confederations, CCOO and UGT.
