Danish merger

Denmark’s two largest union confederations, LO and FTF, have agreed to merge. The decision, taken at separate congresses of the two bodies last month, creates a new 1.5 million-member organisation, which will come into existence on 1 January 2019.

LO has around 1.1 million members and organises both manual and non-manual workers. FTF’s 400,000 membership mostly works in the public sector, but also includes some private sector non-manual employees.
