Brexit

TUC general secretary Frances O’Grady has called on prime minister Theresa May to “keep your promise to the British people” on workers’ rights in the final Brexit agreement.

Speaking to European politicians, businesses and trade unions last month, O’Grady said that the “cliff-edge Brexiteers” were looking to scrap vital workers’ protections — such as protections for agency workers and health and safety — which, she said, “transformed working life in Britain for the better.”

She added that the EU had said these rights should be part of the final agreement, and the UK should do the same.
