Polish strikers win reinstatement

Following a two-week strike at Polish airline LOT, the company has agreed to reinstate the head of the local union organisation, Monika Zelazik, who had been dismissed in June.

It has also withdrawn the dismissal of a further 67 union members who were sacked in the course of the strike. The agreement was signed on 1 November bringing an end to the strike which started on 17 October.

The company has also agreed to open negotiations on improved pay, with the unions demanding the restoration of benefits that were suspended in 2013 when the company was facing severe financial difficulties.
