RPI inflation is cut to 2.8%
The rate of inflation under the Retail Prices Index, the measure preferred by union negotiators, was cut to 2.8% in July from 2.9% the previous month. The 2.8% increase feeds into rail fares from January next year.
Under the Consumer Prices Index, inflation edged up to 2.1% from 2.0%, while under the CPI Housing (CPIH) measure, inflation was up to 2.0% from 1.9%.
