Nurses’ manifesto

The RCN nursing union has set out a manifesto of five priorities to help members demand action from prospective parliamentary candidates in the general election.

Top of the list is that the next UK government must address the nursing shortage, “with it written into law in each UK country who is responsible for workforce planning to ensure safe and effective care”.

The union also wants investment in services and in nursing education, the continued ability to recruit overseas staff and “meaningful pay rises” for nursing staff.
