New minimum wage rates from April


Statutory minimum wage rate rises come into force from 1 April.


The National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and over rises to £7.50 an hour, while the National Minimum Wage for workers aged 21 to 24 rises to £7.05.


For 18 to 20-year-olds the new rate is £5.60 while for the under 18 it’s £4.05 an hour. The rate for apprentices aged under 19, or 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship, is £3.50.


Workers who think their pay is below the correct minimum can refer to the advisory and conciliation service Acas or make a complaint to HM Revenue and Customs, although the government advises them to talk to their employer first.
