Union seeks assurances over Weetabix takeover

The Unite general union has asked for an urgent meeting with the new owner of breakfast cereal makers Weetabix to seek assurances about job security at sites in Burton Latimer and Corby, Northamptonshire.

The US consumer giant Post Holdings has bought Weetabix from its previous Chinese owner Bright Food Group in a £1.4 billion deal.

Unite regional officer Sally Mortimer said: “We want to work constructively with the new management team to ensure the success of the iconic Weetabix brand and to safeguard the future employment for our hardworking and dedicated members.”
