Bullying and harassment statement from Equity

Following the recent media coverage of sexual assault and harassment in the film industry, actors’ and performers’ union Equity has issued a statement reminding members that they can talk to the union in complete confidence should they have any concerns regarding their treatment in the workplace.

The union says it is experienced in dealing directly with employers on these issues and will act on behalf of members who have experienced inappropriate behaviour at work.

It says that it will continue to challenge employers who abuse union members, though it recognises that members may not report bullying and harassment because they fear losing work.

In July, Equity launched a Manifesto for casting to inform the entertainment industry of the standards it demands of all those engaged in the casting and employment process.
