Work stress handbook

The trade union-backed UK National Work Stress Network has published a new edition of its Work stress handbook. The handbook makes clear that the voluntary approach to persuade employers to tackle so-called psycho-social hazards in the workplace “has manifestly failed” and calls for statutory underpinning of the Health and Safety Executive’s Stress Management Standards.

It examines the extent, cost, causes and effects of work-related stress, the law and obstacles to progress. It also provides union reps with information about preventing work stress, conducting a risk assessment and dealing with individual stress.
