New rules on minimum wage in Slovenia a worry

Unions in Slovenia are concerned that changes in the rules on the national minimum wage could lead to the loss of bonus payments.

From 1 January 2020, for the first time, additional payments linked to work performance of the success of the business will be excluded from the minimum wage calculation. Unions fear that companies are changing their pay structures to include these extra payments in basic pay.

The minimum wage is due to increase by 6.1% to €940.58 in 2020 (inflation is currently 1.4% — October), but the ZSSS union confederation fears that “many employees will be disappointed”.
