ECJ will rule on UK age law

The High Court has asked the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to rule on whether the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 contravene European law.

The referral was made on 6 December, when the court heard a challenge to the legislation brought by Heyday, an offshoot of the charity Age Concern (see Labour Research, August 2006).
