Whistleblowing

Workers who blow the whistle on employer malpractice have the right to employment protection under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998. According to the EAT, in the case of The Met Office v Edgar 1448/00, the protection applies even if the whistleblowing occurred prior to the 1998 Act coming into force, provided that the victimisation itself took place after the new law came into force.
