Health and safety minister

The TUC welcomed the appointment of Nick Brown as minister for health and safety in September.

TUC general secretary John Monks said: "By giving responsibility for health and safety at work to the minister for work, the government is sending a clear signal that health and safety will get a higher profile and a higher priority."

Brown was a regional legal officer for the GMB general union in the early eighties.
