ITN workers vote for contract

Workers at television company ITN have voted to accept new contracts, including night working, by a margin of four to one, after threatened industrial action forced an improved package on working arrangements.

As reported in last month's Bargaining Report, members of broadcasting union BECTU, and journalists union the NUJ, had planned industrial action over the introduction of new rosters that would have significantly increased night working and anti-social hours.

However, a new package has now been accepted after resumed negotiations following the announcement of the votes for industrial action. The new contracts have been caused by the imminent launch of a new 24-hour news channel.
