Two-year deal at Rolls Royce Motors

The new two year deal at Rolls Royce Motors in Crewe, covering approximately 2,600 manual and non-manual workers, provides increases of 3% from 1 February 2000 and 1 February 2001. For the manual half of the workforce the increases are across the board, but for other "staff" a performance-related scheme gives increases ranging from 2%-5% (based on a paybill increase of 3%). The workforce is set to grow to between four and five thousand over the next five years, with the balance between manuals and staff moving towards manuals as production levels increase. In line with the planned expansion the premium for working double day shifts has been increased to 16.67%. The agreement also includes an increase in maternity pay to full pay for 18 weeks and there may be a move to a four- day week for production workers later in 2000.
