Government claims work is good for pensioners

Earlier this month the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) published research which supports its arguments for allowing people to work beyond normal retirement ages.

Working after state pension age: quantitative analysis appears to show, according to the DWP, that people working beyond 60 (women) and 65 (men) are "healthier, wealthier and happier."

The research found that 76% percent of men and 71% of women working beyond state pension age described their health as either 'excellent' or 'very good' compared with only 50% of non-workers.
