Mixed results for top 10 unions
Four of the 10 largest TUC unions increased their membership in 1999,
four lost members and two remained static, according to the latest TUC
figures.
The largest jump, of 3.6%, was recorded by the National Union of
Teachers, whose membership went from 194,259 at the beginning of 1999 to
