Postal workers strike over racism

In Wolverhampton 300 postal workers walked out over racist comments on a notice board. The comments were from a survey of staff views of the company and Royal Mail described the placing of them on the notice board as "a stupid mistake". Joint investigations by management and the CWU communication workers' union into both the incident and any underlying issue of racism at the sorting office are to begin immediately. The workers, who took four days of strike action, have been promised they will be paid any lost allowances and bonuses.
