Pay gap widens

The gap between the highest and lowest paid widened last year. The 2001 New Earnings Survey published last month showed that the hourly earnings (excluding overtime) of the highest paid 10% of full-time employees rose by 7.6% to £19.27, while those of the lowest 10% increased by just 4.3% to £5.16.
