Congress 2000
The 132nd Trades Union Congress, to be held in Glasgow on 11-14
September, will be addressed by chancellor of the exchequer Gordon Brown
and Scotland's first minister Donald Dewar, among other outside
speakers.
One of the key areas of debate will be employment rights. While motions
generally welcome the Employment Relations Act, particularly the
statutory recognition framework, a number of unions are calling for
barriers to recognition to be removed and the repeal of trade union law
brought in under the Tories.
