Tube staff strike over lone working

Members of the RMT rail union on London Underground's Bakerloo Line took a day's strike action last month against a lone working policy imposed by managers.

The previous policy had stipulated that at least two staff should take part in ensuring that all passengers are off a train when it is taken out of service. This work carries a higher risk of attack and is carried out by medically restricted staff who cannot work at other locations.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "We need London Underground to talk to us, but they also need to listen."
