Cheaper travel depresses RPI

Cheaper travel costs helped push down the inflation rate as measured by the Retail Price Index to 2.6% in January.

This was down from 2.8% the previous month.

But the Consumer Prices Index, the government's new preferred measure, rose slightly from 1.3% in December to 1.4% in January.
