Interest rates push up RPI

Increased interest rates in November meant that inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index rose by 2.8% in December.

This was up from 2.5% the previous month.

The government's new preferred inflation measure - the Consumer Prices Index - was unchanged at 1.3%.
