Dromey wins election as Woodley's deputy

T&G general union official Jack Dromey beat off two left-wing rivals to win the union's deputy general secretary election last month.

The national organiser for the service industries polled 62,422 votes compared to 29,363 for transport national organiser Graham Stephenson and 24,145 for assistant general secretary Barry Camfield. Turnout was 16%.

Dromey said he was "good friends" with the union's new general secretary Tony Woodley, who took up his post last month, and that they would "unite and rebuild the T&G".
