ASLEF loses tribunal

Rail union ASLEF has lost its appeal against an employment tribunal ruling that it unfairly dismissed its former general secretary, Sean Brady. Brady was dismissed from his post and expelled from ASLEF membership in 2004 for involvement in a fight and other charges.

The tribunal cannot rule on reinstatement until the trade union Certification Officer has decided whether Brady’s ASLEF membership should be restored.
