BBC targets adult literacy
The TUC is supporting a new BBC campaign to raise literacy levels among the UK's 12 million adults with intermediate reading skills.
The three-year RaW (Reading and Writing) campaign will be launched next month. Describing it as "a totally new, entertainment-led crusade to engage the passions and interests of the nation towards literacy", the BBC is asking unions to help. Learning reps can raise workplace awareness, and workplace learning centres can sign up as "RaW centres" to obtain resources and run activities.
This year, groups are being sought to provide feedback on resources and pilot outreach activities before they are launched in 2006.
To register an interest in the pilot work, e-mail [email protected] or call 020 8752 4595/7559. More information on RaW is available at www.bbc.co.uk/raw/campaign
