Learning reps get new code of practice

Employment relations service Acas has published a code of practice setting out new guidance for union learning reps who now have the same rights as union workplace reps.

The code was drawn up in consultation with the TUC and the CBI. It covers issues such as time off for learning activities and training to carry out the activities. Examples are given throughout to illustrate the guidelines.

The TUC and its member trade unions have already recruited nearly 5,000 union learning reps who now have the right to paid time off.

Time off for trade union duties and activities is available on the Acas website at www.acas.org.uk
