Foreign retail workers can accumulate leave

Immigrant workers in Italy can now accumulate their holiday entitlement for up to two years, making it easier for them to visit their countries of origin.

This was one of the elements agreed as part of the recent settlement in the retail and associated services sector, covering around 1.8 million employees.

The agreement, which included a pay increase of €125 a month over four years, was only achieved after the unions involved had threatened a strike.
