Arbitration scheme delayed

Government plans to introduce a voluntary arbitration scheme, as an

alternative to taking a tribunal claim, have been delayed due to

concerns about the implications of the Human Rights Act 1998, which

comes into force this month (see page 25). It is anticipated that the

scheme will be in operation by the end of the year. The scheme was

contained in the Employment Rights (Dispute Resolution) Act 1998, but

needed proposals from ACAS on how it would be implemented.
