Friendly new union

The merger of the AEEU engineering union and MSF manufacturing and finance union will finally be completed on 1 January 2002, the unions say. A joint application to the government's certification officer was made on 18 September with the expectation of forming "a new union for the new year". The union will be called Amicus - "the Latin word meaning friend, supporter, wise councillor and partner," according to the AEEU.
