Information rights on agenda

The draft directive giving workers information and consultation rights at national level is on the agenda of the employment and social policy council meeting next month where it may well be agreed. It would give UK employees in all companies above a certain size new rights to be informed and consulted.

So far the UK has had enough support among other countries to block the proposal. But the agreement on the European company (see main story) may mean that Germany abandons its opposition to the draft directive, leaving the UK government with too few allies to block it.
