Childcare lottery

The availability of registered childcare places for children under eight ranges from one place for every five children in some areas to one place for every seven children in others, according to a new report by national childcare charity, Daycare Trust. Stephen Burke, director of Daycare Trust, said: "The childcare gap is beginning to close. But this report highlights how the childcare lottery remains a reality for many parents living in disadvantaged areas."
