Construction design regulations are delayed
The Health and Safety Executive says it will not now introduce its revised Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations until spring 2007.
The new regulations will revise and bring together provisions in the existing CDM Regulations 1994 and the Construction (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996.
The regulations were due to be implemented in October this year, but this has been put back following consultation.
“Delaying until next April will ensure that industry has time to prepare for the new regulations, so it is not something we have a problem with,” said Carole Bonner of construction union UCATT.
