Scotland introduces workplace smoking ban

The law banning smoking in public places in Scotland came into force on 26 March.

Individuals who flout the legislation, which covers a wide range of workplaces including bars and restaurants, face a fixed penalty of £50. A manager or employer in control of no-smoking premises can be fined £200 for allowing others to smoke there or failing to display warning notices.
