The cost and the corruption of war on Iraq

TUCND, 6-8 Church St, Church, Lancashire BB5 4LF, £2.00

This pamphlet by Trade Union CND (TUCND) dissects the nature of the war in Iraq, exposing the lies used by the British government to justify intervention. It estimates the cost of the war in Britain at around £6 billion - or around £250 million a month.

It also points out the huge sums of Iraqi money (estimated at $21 billion) spent on projects by the Coalition Provisional Authority before it dissolved last year.

The pamphlet makes the case against the war and the continued occupation, without making any concessions to the regime of Saddam Hussein, which it described as "fascist".

Although it raises important questions about the situation in Iraq now, it unfortunately does not adequately discuss the emerging Iraqi trade unions and the need for solidarity from the British labour movement.
