Inflation rebounds

Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), annual inflation rebounded to 3.2% in July from 2.8% in June. The largest upward pressures came from dearer cars and European air fares. Petrol and oil fell this year by less than a year ago, adding to the rise.

Under the measure preferred by the government — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — inflation rose to 2.6% in July from 2.4% the previous month.
