Inflation eases down to 5.2%

A slowdown in the rise in food prices and non-alcoholic drinks helped cut inflation.

Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), it was down to 5.2% in November from 5.4% the previous month.

Meanwhile it was down to 4.8% from 5.0% in October under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), the government’s preferred measure.

Despite the fall, the rate remains well above the Bank of England’s target of 2%.
