Inflation is negative once more

Inflation was in negative territory for the seventh consecutive month, according to the latest official figures.

Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), inflation fell to minus 1.4% in September against minus 1.3% in August. Energy prices made the biggest contribution to the fall.

Under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), the government’s preferred measure, inflation fell to 1.1% in September.
