Ritchie re-elected to top job

Alan Ritchie has been re-elected general secretary of construction union UCATT over the only other candidate, London regional organiser Mick Dooley. Ritchie, first elected in 2004 when Dooley was also his only opponent, this time received 60% of the vote to Dooley’s 40%.

Detailed voting figures were not available from the union, but supporters of Dooley claimed they were 6,706 for Ritchie and 4,431 for Dooley. Based on UCATT’s latest membership figure of 129,065 supplied to the TUC, this would mean turnout was around 9%.
