Union honours

A number of trade unionists featured in the New Year Honours List for 2008.

OBEs went to Professional Footballers’ Association chief executive Gordon Taylor and, for his role as a Health and Safety Commissioner, former Amicus assistant secretary Danny Carrigan.

MBEs were awarded to Frank Hont and John Sharman of UNISON, former Prospect president Phil Kemball (who was secretary of the board of investigation into the Buncefield oil depot disaster in 2005), Phil Gregory of the TUC South West Region and FBU member David Newton.
